Orquesta Sonbachá is a salsa band based in Charlotte that keeps the essence of Cuban son and classic salsa alive with a modern and danceable energy. Under the direction of Nicaraguan musician Ricardo Ortega, the orchestra has become an active presence in the city’s Latin music scene, bringing to the stage a powerful sound of brass, Afro-Caribbean percussion, and arrangements that connect tradition with the present. Inspired by the legacy of salsa dura and the great orchestras of the genre, Sonbachá continues to create space for Latin music in the Queen City, delivering performances full of flavor, rhythm, and authentic salsa energy.
