Easter Egg: “The Unraveling”
The Unraveling is a sculptural fiber installation inspired by the moment before Alice enters Wonderland—that spark of curiosity where everything begins to shift. At its center, a needle-felted scene offers a quiet world on the edge of discovery, framed by hand-woven elements anchoring the front of the egg. Extending beyond this intimate vignette, flora, mushrooms, and wonderland-inspired elements unfold across the surface, transforming the full egg into an evolving landscape. The back becomes an expansion of the small felted scene, gently blurring the boundary between a contained story and an immersive environment. The piece invites viewers to linger in the tension and wonder of the unknown—capturing that fragile threshold where curiosity awakens and the magic of nature begins to take hold.
Dani Dias is a lifelong creative, mother, and community-based artist who brings intention and meaning to everything she makes—sometimes quite literally through weaving. Though she doesn’t maintain a formal portfolio or gallery representation, her artistry lives in personal projects, school collaborations, and the hands-on work of building things that matter. As a full-time mom, much of Dani’s creative energy has been devoted to raising her daughter, now a talented teen artist in her own right. This project is especially meaningful, marking the first time they are submitting work side by side.
Dani believes mothers are the original creators, and her art reflects that truth. In her current piece, she explores curiosity—an instinct she knows well. The act of weaving, building something beautiful thread by thread, mirrors her own journey of wondering, exploring, and beginning again.
