Christopher Allison is a versatile trumpet player, composer, music director, arranger, and educator whose deep jazz influences have opened doors to remarkable opportunities. He has had the privilege of performing with Grammy Award-winning artists and continues to make an impact in the music industry.
Born in Durham, NC, Christopher’s love for music was nurtured from an early age. At just seven years old, he received his first trumpet lesson from his father, sparking a lifelong passion. In high school, he honed his skills through marching, symphonic, and jazz bands, developing a keen musical ear and a strong foundation.
After high school, Christopher pursued a degree in music at the historic Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, where he studied under Melvin Jones. During his time at Morehouse, he refined his craft as both a performer and composer, contributing to various ensembles. In 2006, he was inducted into Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the nation’s oldest music fraternity.
Christopher began performing professionally while still in college, playing with local groups that led to opportunities to open for and perform alongside major artists. After college, he took control of his career, sharing the stage and touring with renowned musicians. Despite his demanding schedule, he remains committed to mentorship and giving back to the music community.
Known as Cousin Chris, his signature sound is a fusion of jazz, hip-hop, and R&B, bridging the gap between genres and audiences. Based in Charlotte, NC, he tours both domestically and internationally, collaborating with various bands and artists.
