Can I bring my dog to SHOUT!?

Dogs are welcome at outdoor events, except for food-focused festivals and events (e.g., StrEATs, Carolina BBQ Festival, etc.) and are subject to Charlotte’s leash laws. The City of Charlotte requires dog owners to keep their dogs on leash and under physical restraint at all times. Dogs are generally not welcome in indoor events or spaces unless they are a service animal. Please check individual indoor locations’ websites for animal policies or procedures.

What is the SHOUT! policy on service dogs?

Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Under the ADA, State and local governments, businesses, and nonprofit organizations that serve the public generally must allow service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas of the facility where the public is allowed to go.

What safety measures are in place in Uptown during Charlotte SHOUT!?

As always, Uptown Charlotte is actively patrolled by the Charlotte Metropolitan Police Department.

During events, additional officers are deployed for crowd control and public safety. In addition, the Charlotte Center City Safety Ambassadors Program was established in 2018 as a hospitality and outreach initiative.

Ambassadors are the friendly, visible presence throughout Uptown and South End, dressed in bright orange uniforms, engaging with everyone from business owners and visitors to residents and neighbors in need. This safety and outreach-focused team plays a vital role in supporting public well-being and community connection in the heart of Charlotte. If you have a safety concern, please look for an ambassador, an “I AM HERE TO HELP” station, or a member of CMPD for assistance.

Are there vendors at Charlotte SHOUT!? How do I become a vendor?

Yes, there are food vendors throughout the festival. Food Truck applications to participate in Charlotte SHOUT! 2026 are closed.
