Hoan Rahlan is an artist based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon receiving a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2021, Rahlan has become an adjunct instructor alongside exhibiting throughout the Charlotte area. Rahlan works predominantly in oil paint while also exploring a variety of other mediums to create work that demonstrates a reflection of her cultural identity as a modern Montagnard woman; exploring the theme of motherhood, healing, transformation, and cultural symbolism within her art. Her works symbolize growth and search for identity, as well as the acknowledgement of change from her past. Rahlan’s pieces respond to the contradictions and complexities of life, using them to express her own contemplations and journey towards self-discovery. These works can be considered narratives of healing, love, and perseverance that provide insight into her unique perspective on both her life and culture.
